MOSA - Haiti Earthquake Luciferous Project - H.E.L.P.

After the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti's capital, Port-Au-Prince in January 2010, causing massive devastation to the city, the enormity of the situation inspired many Americans to respond quickly and generously.

It is estimated that the quake destroyed more than 4,000 buildings in the capital and caused 250,000 fatalities.  Lack of food, clean water, medical care and the spread of disease may have push the death toll even higher.

MOSA and Medozone Technolgies (MOT)

When the news of the earthquake in Haiti reached us at MOSA - Medical Oxygen Society of the Americas - our team of representatives headed out to the catastrophically devastated area to provide much-needed medical assistance and deliver essential equipment to the Hait Earthquake Relief efforts. Our team accompanied the prototype Omega V oxygen / ozone medical unit from Medozone Technolgies (MOT).

The photos and reports we acquired were even more shocking than the official news. The medical services were completely eradicated, the lack of clean water, electrical power, roads and transportation, together with complete destruction of all medical facilities made the care for tens of thousands of distressed Haitians practically impossible.

Medozone Technolgies - "Omega V" - Medical Oxygen / Ozone Unit

Medozone Technolgies (MOT) were confident their Omega V medical oxygen / ozone unit would provide a vast spectrum of much needed medical benefits, safe and reliable technology, effective and cost-effective medical applications to successfully treat a vast spectrum of medical conditions. Thus, the Omega V medical oxygen / ozone unit had the chance to be tested in the field under very acute circumstances during the Haiti Relief efforts:

"O3 ozone is the ultimate antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral clinically known with practically no side-effects and no mutant-bioresistance-build-up capabilities.

In other words “The perfect natural micro-organisms killer” - Medozone Technologies

"Omega V" Medical Unit ... a Haiti Earthquake Helper

The development of the Omega V prototype, an ozone generator produced by Medozone Technolgies (MOT), started in late 2008 and successfully absolved the series of real life testing.

The idea was to create an ozonation unit strong enough to perform at its best when utilized outside of a medical facility under rough conditions such as dust, high humidity, shock handling, etc.

Without electricity and clean water

the surgical instruments had to be bagged in nylon containers

and sterilized overnight by the constant ozone flow

delivered by the Omega V unit.

Intensively used to decontaminate water for surgical use,

the Omega V performed continually for many days.

Medical Volunteers

The group of US medical volunteers our representative met in Haiti was extremely relieved to have the Omega V unit doing for them the most basic surgical function:  the sterilization.

Surgery - Wound Healing - Omega V Medical Ozone Unit

The surgeons, as reported to us, were surprised to see the accelerated blood coagulation when the Omega V unit was utilized to sterilize skin cuts and other surgical conditions.

Water Purification - Omega V Medical Ozone Unit

In the disastrous post-quake conditions, many Haitian areas found themselves without any drinking or clear water at all.  For the volunteer medical groups struggling to help thousands of injured Haitians, the water handicap was obviously a very serious matter. We were very pleased with the performance of the Omega V unit.  The conditions in Haiti and the functioning circumstances were incomparably more demanding than the manufacturer’s rigorous tests.

Summary - Haiti Project

Since the Haiti experience, MOSA strongly recommends the Omega V ozonator unit for any field or emergency medical services.  It must be remarked here that even though ozone generators are offered by a number of companies worldwide, the majority of such ozonators were designed for medical office or hospital-like indoor conditions.  Rough outdoor circumstances such as was met in Haiti were simply not considered or planned for.

It only makes sense now to remember that an ozonator unit can perform a vast palate of duties but particularly speaking the circumstance of highest need for such an ozonator will always be the field emergency, the disaster areas, the conditions where the regular conventional way of performing medical services would be most handicapped or quite impossible.

In such instances a robust ozonator unit such as the Omega V will represent the saving workhorse and main facilitator for the acutely needed medical aid. It is MOSA's recommendation that units such as the Omega V should be part of any medical arsenal when contemplating offering of medical help to African regions deprived of established and functioning medical facilities, clinics or hospitals.

The most basic facts such as sterilization of instruments, decontamination of materials, purification of questionable water for medical utilization, bacterial – viral and fungal static functions and wound sterilization, debridement and sanitation can be performed outside medical facilities and even when electrical power is not available.  The Omega V unit will perform equally well even if only a simple power inverter will be available.
