So, Liberia needs international friends, friends willing to help, friends skilled enough to find financial resources even now when the western world finds itself in a major recession, with even industrial nations narrowly escaping bankruptcy. Having our charitable department for MOSA – the AfricaMedica.org – it was only natural after receiving a letter from one of my patients (see: A Letter for Liberia) to take the immediate decision of establishing the project ... "MOSA - A Friend For Liberia".
This MOSA charities project sets its goal to examine all possibilities and develop a definite step by step program for establishing a functional and maintainable charitable system for immediate implementation in Liberia. In the initial phase an information website will be developed to present our project to anyone willing to help and facilitate our communication in this matter to the world at large.
Parallel to information, contacts will be established to medical and dental communities examining the possibility of organizing charitable medical groups of specialists willing to donate their time and efforts in Liberia for the benefit of the unprivileged patients. The logistic of this program will be established in cooperation with our representative in Liberia.
Next of course, the acquiring of medical and dental equipment and the transportation of such will follow as soon as our clinical location will be established in the capital city of the country. We are very happy to confirm that five complete dental operatories and two dental radiograph machines are ready to be delivered from us as soon as the proper arrangements and location in Liberia are met.
Providing medical materials and medicine will represent a permanent preoccupation of our project, since without maintaining the necessary flow of medical materials, the project cannot perform optimally. Due to the obliterated and nonexistent educational system, it becomes necessary for us to create and maintain an educational center in the Liberian capital, Monrovia.
For this reason the MOSA - A Friend For Liberia project will establish the MOSA Institute for Medicine, Science and Education of Liberia.
Our MOSA representative in Liberia, Mrs. Cheryl Flah-Kiahon, embraced the volunteer position of the Institute Director with great enthusiasm. We are sure that her dedication and the desire to help her native country will enable her to become operative very soon. The MOSA Institute for Medicine, Science and Education of Liberia will provide online education for auxiliary medical and dental personnel as well as other types of educations as future developments will require.
Providing webinar education to the natives of Liberia can represent an important help for the charitable medical practitioners when operating in this country. Later on the MOSA Institute for Medicine, Science and Education of Liberia will provide online training and as we are now hoping even curricula for online diplomas for as many domains of education as such instructors in different fields will become available to us here at MOSA.
In providing education over the internet and video webinars, the students in Liberia can be exposed to the up to date, practical functions, real time applications and demonstrations. By providing such webinars as a charitable program of the respective instructors, the students can receive free, but at the same time high quality, education enabling them to utilize their new skills for the benefit of their community and contribute to the national recovery. We express our hope that the MOSA Institute for Medicine, Science and Education of Liberia will develop a large palate of curricula and be a model of further such endeavors.
Clean water and optimal nutrition will be an important subject of our Liberia project as well. Presently AfricaMedica.org examines possible water purification systems capable to operate simply and inexpensively in the field. The MOSA - A Friend For Liberia project is expecting to initiate its activity very soon with the introduction of “New Hope Medicine” together with the “New Hope Education” as the most challenging task of this project and will diversify in the future as dictated by the prioritized needs and the help availability.
MOSA - A Friend For Liberia, represents a vast, extremely diversified program and in need of any additional help, support and contribution from all parties interested in our endeavor. We visualize the success of this project as a major contribution in supporting this African nation on its way to recovery.
